It was ‘ladies first’ in Friday’s main class, the VDL Groep Prize. In a thrilling jump-off the USA’s Lauren Hough was super fast and nobody managed to better her time. Lauren, who represented her country multiple times at big Championships, steered her small and agile 11-year-old mare Ohlala (SWB, Orlando x Cardento) to the finish in 37.17 seconds.
Runners-up were Limburg’s pride and VDL stable rider Lisa Nooren and, a nine-year-old French bred stallion (Qredo de Paulstra HN x Talent Platiere HN).
Third place went to Ireland’s Denis Lynch and the 11-year-old mare Zamora (NRPS, Quasimodo Z x Nimmerdor). He was followed by three Dutch riders: Jur Vrieling with Zaval VDL (KWPN, Casall x Emilion), Marc Houtzager with Sterrehof’s Voltaire (KWPN, Now or Never M x Accord II) and National Champion Leopold van Asten with VDL Groep Zagreb (BWP, Querlybet Hero x Heartbreaker).
