On Saturday afternoon German rider Carsten Lux won the Euregion competition, the Stal Hendrix Prize, with the nine-year-old mare Amigo LS (Zang, Asca Z x Almox Prints). The 39-year-old Lux from Gangelt was the fastest in 34.37 in the five-horse jump-off. Carsten, who is a blacksmith in daily life, bred and trained the mare himself. The dam and granddam of Amigo LS were also owned by his family and Carsten learned to ride on that same granddam.

Runner-up was Sabrina Busch with the 19-year-old Ruben (Landwind II x Marconi). Sabrina, who lives in Geilenkirchen, Germany, had a clear round in 34.70 seconds. Third place went to Holland’s Teun Vestjens who crossed the line in 37.19 seconds with the seven-year-old mare Fiwalda. Vestjens is always successful at Jumping Indoor Maastricht. In 2014 and 2015 he won the Euregion competition in the MECC.

Kaat Pluymers (NED) finished in fourth place with Cheyenne van de Berkenen Z (Zang, Cadencee van ’t Gelutt Z x Vidoux de la Mance) followed by Joris Geenen (BEL) with Kioto van het Simsehof (BWP, Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Non Stop) with eight penalties each.
