A full house saw Maikel van der Vleuten win the Longines Trophy/Grand Prix of Maastricht in an unparalleled way. He repeated his win in the same manner as last year with an almost impossible turn. Maikel said afterwards, “It was convinced that the only way to better the time of Timothy I was to make that short turn. VDL Groep Sapphire B and Cedrick are both very fast horses.”

Timothy was first to go in the jump-off. He took riscs and set a very fast time that seemed unpossible to be beat until Maikel entered the ring as last rider to go. Timothy was happy with the result: “if you would have said before that I was going to finish runner-up I would not have believed you. I am very happy with this result. I am still young and I am sure I will have another chance in the future.”

Albert Zoer finished in third place with Gigolo. “Gigolo is still young (eight years) and did really well here in Maastricht. I went fast in the jump-off, but could not do more yet. In the future I am sure he will be able to go faster.”

The organisation can look back to a very successful event. In total 22,000 visitors came to the MECC to enjoy the top sport and entertainment. Next year Jumping Indoor Maastricht will be held from 30 October to 1 November 2015.
