Germany’s Hans-Dieter Dreher was last to go in the jump-off and rode to victory when he beat the fast time set by the USA’s Lauren Hough. Lisa Nooren, only 18 years old, finished third in front of her home crowd.
British show jumper Joe Clee had the fastest round in the MECC Prize with his 12-year-old BWP mare Diablesse de Muze (Baloubet du Rouet x Nabab de Reve). He had 44 points in this accumulator with joker in 33.52 seconds. Joe Clee lives in Brussels, Belgium and is married to Julie Wauters.
On Saturday evening Albert Zoer showed that the impossible can be made possible in the Audi Prize. In a nine-horse thrilling jump-off the battle for the first prize was fierce. Switzerland’s Janika Sprunger was second to go in the jump-off and set a time which seemed unbeatable. No one was able to better her time.
It was again a Dutch rider who was presented with the first prize after the speed and handiness class, the Provincie Limburg Prize. Peter Geerink was the fastest in 56.36 seconds with Zidane (KWPN, Cavalier x Laroche). Runner-up was Brazil’s Marlon Módole Zanotelli, who was in the lead for a long time with his 11-year-old mare Madame Butterfly.
Lisa Nooren is right on track in Maastricht. Yesterday is finished runner-up in the main class, the VDL Groep Prize, and this afternoon she raced to victory in the Chapeau Prize, a jumping class against the clock. Lisa rode her eight-year-old mare VDL Groep Centora de Wallyro, a daughter of the well-known jumping stallion Dobel’s Cento. The combination stopped the clock at 65.89.
Yesterday Diederik van Silfhout won the Grand Prix, the Vian Prize, and today he repeated this result in the Grand Prix Freestyle. Diederik’s young and talented horse Bonzanjo showed some good passage and piaffe exercises and recieved eights for the transitions.
The organisation of Jumping Indoor Maastricht is very thankful for the trust of all the participants, visitors, exhibitors, sponsors and volunteers that have supported the return of JIM. All efforts put together, ensured that we can now look back on a very successful edition. The positive reactions of visitors and in the media, confirm that JIM has been missed over the years and that it still has a special place in the hearts of many.
