The opening competition for the jumping riders, the Limburger Prix, was convincingly won by home rider Timothy Hendrix. The 31-year-old rider from the Limburg Province stayed clear in the 1.40m course and set a very fast time of 55.31 seconds. Timothy, son of famous international Emile Hendrix, rode the 10-year-old Beau Beau, a KWPN mare by Untouchable. World and European champion Jeroen Dubbeldam stayed clear too but took it easy to finish in 59.68 seconds with the eight-year-old mare Dokyra Fortuna (KWPN, by Canturano). Third place went to Germany’s Hans-Dieter Dreher and his Holsteiner gelding Cim Air in 0-60.39. Dreher won the Longines Trophy last year.
